MIT Faculty Club – Boston Wedding

Posted In: Event Lighting

I’ve been waiting for tonight’s MIT Faculty Club wedding with great anticipation. I actually wrote about it a few weeks ago under my best wedding music column. I knew after meeting with Andrew & Rona and then seeing their playlist that something special was going to happen. It did – the wedding was amazing.

I don’t even know where to begin. The night started out with a fantastically choreographed first dance. Andrew & Rona took my advice to take a few dance lessons from my friend Michele Cloutier of Dance in Boston. They did and it paid dividends. It was so much fun to see these two dancing together.

They also had the most unique sign in board I’ve ever seen. Each table had a puzzle piece and some marking pencils. The guests were encouraged to make a note on their tables puzzle piece. The pieces will later  fit together to form a giant puzzle guest book.

The MIT Faculty Club served up one of the best wedding meals I had ever eaten. Each of the vendors had their choice of Salmon, Char (I had never heard of this) or filet mignon. I’m not a fish eater so I went with the filet and it was delicious. Seriously one of the best wedding meals -ever.

Did I mention there was lots of dancing? There was. It started and ended with Michael Jackson. “The Way You Make Me Feel” kicked off the intros and the last dance was “Don’t Stop Till You Get Enough”. I’m pretty sure MIT Faculty Club never rocked so hard.

Song highlights included Cee Lo Green’s “Forget You”, Amy Winehouse’s “Rehab”, Rona’s Dad’s Hora Medley (he’s actually a gifted musician), the Charlie Daniel’s Band’s “Devil Went Down to Georgie” & Calvin Harris’ “Feels So Close”. There were many more huge hits, too many to name.

It takes an experienced team to pull off a great event like this. I definitely want to share the credit. First, I had with me the newest 5 Star. His name is Mike Savage and he’s going to be a valuable addition to our team. He was running the uplighting for us this evening but proved valuable setting up equipment, calling tunes like a pro & handling some of the logistics. You will definitely be seeing more of him.

Andrea Servidone was shooting the professional images (not the ones in this post). Watch for them on her blog. If you need a photographer, trust me, you need to check her out. She is AMAZING!!

J.Lis of Revel Video was hired to create the wedding film. It was my first time working with him and I look forward to the next time. He was professional, friendly and unobtrusive. If his 5 Star reviews are any indication, the film is going to be awesome.

Lastly what can I say about the MIT Faculty Club? The food was amazing, the staff here helpful, friendly and responsive and the space provided the perfect setting for this beautiful day. Thank you Elizabeth Eross for all of your help!!

Alright, I’m off to bed. It’s 4am and I have to make an early start.
