Picking the perfect bridal shoes is as simple as 1-2-3
Your wedding day is a day like no other. You want to look fabulous and be comfortable.
When choosing shoes to match your gown, keep in mind these helpful tips and dance the night
away!
- Choose a heel that you are comfortable wearing. If you are accustomed to a two inch
supportive heel for everyday wear, that is what you should choose for your wedding shoes.
In most cases the heel is not seen with a wedding gown. The focal point is the front of the shoe.
Choosing a heel that is one to two inches higher than you are use to wearing, will only add a
nominal amount of height to your over all look, but will cost you dearly in comfort.
When choosing the material of the shoes, try and match it to the texture of the gown.
If you have a silk satin gown it is best to go with a silk satin shoe. The color will match
without needing to be dyed (silk satin has a diamond white or off white tone) and the textures
will blend and compliment each other. If you fall in love with a shoe style that is only
made in satin and have a silk gown, be prepared to have the shoes dyed to match the natural
white color of your gown. If your gown is made of white satin, the sheen of satin material
will work the best. This is the most versatile material on the market, as it will go with
most gowns and can be dyed to match any color. If your gown has a chiffon or tulle overlay,
a crepe or luxe finish will be the most appropriate. Theses shoes have a soft flat finish to
blend seamlessly with your gown.
If your dress has rhinestones and beads, you’ll want your shoes to compliment your dress.
A lot of the wedding shoes have clear beads that pick up the color of your dress. The clear
beads blend with most embellishments and look great when dyed. If you have a real detailed
dress, you may want to stay away from shoes with a lot of beading. Too much detailing may
end up catching the bottom of your dress, which is the last thing you want to be thinking
about.
- Choose between an open or closed toe. The traditional closed toe shoe will draw less
attention to your shoes and create a sophisticated clean look to finish off your ensemble.
It is also a good solution if you want to wear nylons, as it is now considered a fashion
Faux-Par to wear stockings with sandals. Sandals are the current trend for wedding gowns
for 2006. Sandals allow for a more expressive look and are often more comfortable (no
cramped toes). There are also many more styles to choose from!
Here are some tips on when to dye shoes and some Q&A…
When you choose your bridal shoe, more often than not, the color will not match exactly.
Unless you have a white satin gown, white satin shoes will not match. Many dresses are diamond
white and not pure white. If this is the case, you’ve come to the right place!
Before you make any decisions we suggest you try the shoes on with your dress. This
allows you to see the difference in color. We recommend, you have your shoes for your
first fitting. Some bridal boutiques distribute swatches. Be careful, if it is not from
your dress it may not be the exact color.
When you have a piece from your actual dress, bring your shoes in. Our facility custom
dyes to match your gown. We mix colors to get your specific color. Dyeing takes about ten
days and we charge only $12.00 for shoes purchased from us! For more information look at
our page about dyeing!
- QWhat happens if I get my shoes dirty, Can I clean them?
- ANooo! Do not try to clean them, you will ruin them. We use a water-soluble
dye that will run if exposed to moisture. You can always dye over them with a darker color
or spray them with a water repellant spray.
- QWhat if I need my shoes sooner than a week?
- ADon’t worry; we can dye your shoes in less than a week. It’s a rush job
and it will cost $25.00 instead of $12.00.
- QCan you dye shoes not bought through your company? Most places won’t!
- AYes, we dye shoes purchased elsewhere, it does cost $25.00.
- QWhat are the chances I’m ever going to wear my shoes again?
- AA lot of our customers dye the shoes black and wear them again.
This way you get more than one use and women love wearing the shoes they walked down
the aisle in.
- QWhat if I don’t have a swatch but I need the shoes to match?
- AWe do all of our dyeing on premise, so you could leave the dress. It’s
better for us to get the color if we have the actual material. We do have a dye book full
of different color swatches to choose from, although we try not to use it.
- QWhen you dye shoes, why do you have to dye to either indoor or outdoor lighting?
- ADue to the presence of ultra violet light in the natural light spectrum,
the color will change. For example, dyeing shoes a peach color for indoor lighting will look
pink outdoors. Dyeing shoes ivory for outdoor lighting will look dark and yellowy indoors.
We can’t dye for both so you need to decide which is best for your event. Don’t worry about
pictures that are taken outside. The camera lens will filter out most of the ultra violet light.
Best wishes and happy dancing,
