Studies show that the typical of bride does some of her wedding research from work. Of course none of my clients fall in that category, but I’m sure you’re all very busy with day to day stuff, wedding planning and such. So to save you time (and maybe trouble from your boss), I’ve decided to help.
This evening I’ll be subscribing to the big wedding magazines. These magazines have been known to be filled with mostly filler, fluff pieces, and advertisements. It’s the articles with questions about hiring a dj always crack me up. Of course your dj is going to come with a microphone …
Well anyway, I plan on reading these magazines from cover to cover in search of valuable tips. I’ll pass these, along with other information on my message board Boston Wedding Forum. Now I’ll just be commenting on the things that I have knowledge about so you might want to hang on to your magazines for now. More than likely gown styles & makeup tips won’t be covered.
I purchased the lates issues of In Style & the Knot this evening and have pulled out several pages. Watch for tips later on today and tomorrow.
Happy Planning,

Wow, this is a lot of work. I’m trying to ad 4 or 5 songs a day and it’s a bit time consuming. I’m slowly getting through my list of father daughter songs & others as I think of them.
Sorry for jumping in like that. I’m talking about the new song lyrics page. You can get to it from any of the regular web pages on the additional links bar. Visiting that page presents you with a drop down where you can select from songs in the database. These songs all have the lyrics to them.
It’s nice to have the lyrics available when selecting your big songs. It might prevent some surprises on wedding day.
After I get the list semi-complete. I’ll implement a print feature that is actually print ready. If there are any songs you’d like the lyrics to, please post them in the forum. I’ll do my best to track them down.
Your dj,

I was recently turned onto the forum hosted by the Boston Globe at Boston.com. This forum is a place where brides come to freely discuss their wedding plans and experiences. As part of the process brides often “dish”, good & bad, about their wedding vendors.
I’ve been to the site several times over the last week and find that the site is very current. It looks as though there are many new posts daily, and even better the site is very easy to navigate & searchable. With a couple of clicks you can search for anything, including the vendors you’ve hired or are considering.
It’s well known and a recent topic of discussion on the forum that an upset bride can do alot of damage to a wedding vendors career. In many cases, this is well deserved, but just as frequently it’s not. I’ve heard of several reputable businesses getting trashed and almost ruined over a misunderstanding that turned bad. Thankfully a search of my name results in all favorable reviews.
To keep the results in perspective, do your search over an extended period of time. The default setting is for 1 month, with options for 1 year or longer. These longer options will give a more accurate picture and some history to base your decisions on. If you find negative posts follow the “thread” from beginning to end. You may even do a search for the “poster”. Some “posters” are known for their constant negative posting & trash talk.
I’ve also heard lots about the Knot forums. Before writing this post, I went to their site to gather information and was a bit disappointed. I found their local chat but was not able to find any info about hiring vendors. In addition I wasn’t able to find any references to any of the areas well known dj’s. Anyone with info on this, please post as I think this would also be a helpful tool.
While on the topic of forums, I found a very nice one with helpful wedding information. It’s on the Garden Web. It’s not local but has a great variety of posts. I looked today and the most recent posts were about wedding attire, wedding gifts, an unconventional wedding registry, bachelorette party ideas, etc. I found both the topics & responses to be helpful & appropriate.
Best of Luck,

This blogging is a whole new world. The software itself is great because it’s extremely flexible. I think it’s going to be a lengthy project to get this where I want it to be. The first step is to get the blog to look similar to the rest of my site & get some sort of navigation working. I plan to keep the blog up during the process so you’ll more than likely see some changes over the next few weeks. I’ll also try to get some useful information up right away so if you’re reading you won’t feel as if you’re wasting your time.
Until I get the navigation in order, if you’d like to get to my home page, click the link below my signature.
Thanks for tuning in.

Whew!! I’ve been finally getting to some of the ideas in my head that I think will be important and useful tools for anyone planning an event, with an emphasis on weddings & bar/bat mitzvahs.
Several weeks ago, I started my online music database designed for creating easy event playlists. The searchable database includes over 60,000 songs that you can actually listen to. After finding the songs that you’d like, and those that you don’t, you can easily add them to your Must Play, Must Not Play and Play if Possible Lists. The lists can be saved for later additions, updated, printed, or sent directly to me. This feature alone is going to save so much time & make picking music fun & easy. I’d like to thank Barnes & Noble & DJ Intelligence for their helping to make this possible.
Earlier this week I started the 5 Star Forum - a place where all of your event questions will hopefully be answered & your event problems will find solutions. If I, or any or our forum participants, can’t come up with the answers or ideas you are looking for, I’ll get answers from within my network of the greatest event professionals anywhere. My network includes photographers, planners, designers, caterers, musicians, dance instructors, etiquette experts, and a whole host of others.
And today, the 5 Star Blog has been created. Here I plan to “blog” all the great party ideas that I see and hear about. Being disc jockey at nearly 100 events a year, I take part in the planning, and also have the advantage of seeing things as they unfold. When I see something new and worth mentioning, I’ll record it in the blog. This way you’ll have the advantage of hearing about things as they happen and have the opportunity to ad something special to your event while the trends are still hot & new.
This is momentous it’s my first official post on the 5 Star Blog. I hope it turns out to be a great resource for everyone.
Greg
