In the beginning

My name is Greg Hodges, and I’m the owner of 5 Star Events a company I started in the summer of ’84. At that time, I wasn’t even old enough to drive. I was just a kid with entreprenureal spirit – trying to make a few bucks. It’s hard to believe that twenty something years (and well over 2000 events) later, I’m still playing music at parties. Even harder to believe, it’s been my only job in all this time. I guess I’m lucky to have found something that I loved (and could make a living at), at such a young age.

Over the years a lot has changed. Instead of spinning records I’m playing mp3′s. I’ve graduated from the local K of C halls and Elk lodges and now find myself in upscale country clubs and the finest hotels. While there have been changes, a lot has stayed the same. I’ve always held core values that I base my business decisions upon. Whatever you call it, a moral compass or mission statement, I believe it’s what has kept me succesfully in business all of this time.

  • I will always spend enough time to properly prepare for an event.
  • I will take every opportunity to go the extra mile.
  • I will keep up to date with advances in technology and my music library.
  • I will treat customers fairly and deal with them honestly.
  • I will always have a backup plan for everything.
  • Most importantly I will give 110% to every event and every client.

These principals have guided me well and I believe they will bring continued success into the future.

A new chapter

5 years ago started a new chapter for 5 Star Events. It was then when I decided to train and take on a new hire, my brother Dave Hodges. Dave spent two years as my student, assisting at many weddings & events. He took home playlists to study & analyze and before long was going out on his own events. It must be in his blood because he took to it in a very short time. Dave is now working weddings on a regular basis and is getting rave reviews. Like-minded professionals

Several years ago, I was lucky enough to find and become part of a group of wedding professionals that conduct business in a similar fashion. The group I’m referring to is the Boston Wedding Group. I would recommend that anyone planning a wedding use this resource as a starting point in a search for wedding professionals.
